Common Questions
  1. How far or how much footage will Delta extend to serve my house if a gas main is not on the property? Delta's extension policy is that per customer, a customer must at a minimum utilize natural gas for either heating or water heating to qualify for up to 200 feet of main at no cost.
  2. Who pays for the line that runs from the main to my meter? Delta provides the first one hundred feet of service line at no cost. Additional service line, if necessary, will be installed by the company at $3.00 per foot or the individual may open and close the trench and be charged only the cost of materials at $0.34/ft.
  3. How about the meter and regulator? Delta provides the meter and first cut regulator at no cost.
  4. Will Delta clean up the areas where they construct the pipeline? We pride ourselves on the excellent manner in which we perform cleanup. Delta will repair all construction excavation by backfilling and tamping trench lines, as well as reseeding and strawing the affected area.
  5. Are there any deposits required to initiate service? Yes. Delta requires a $95.00 refundable service deposit. After good payment history has been established, the deposit plus interest (at a 6% annual rate) is refunded to the customer.
  6. Does the monthly gas bill have a minimum charge or any taxes? Yes. There is a $10.00 minimum monthly residential customer service charge along with applicable state, local and school taxes, as well as city franchise fees. In addition to the minimum charge, the customer only pays for the natural gas that is actually used during the billing period plus applicable taxes and fees.
  7. Does Delta Natural Gas install furnaces or water heaters? Plumbing downstream of the meter or installation of natural gas equipment is the responsibility of the homeowner. Check around your area for reputable contractors and heating installers that provide safe installation at a reasonable cost.

  8. Will Delta inspect my plumbing for installation and safety precautions? Yes. Prior to setting the meter, Delta personnel will inspect and test house-piping and check to see that approved shut-off valves are installed before each appliance. Delta will also  inspect for approved appliances and for proper venting material. Upon completion of the inspection/tests, Delta personnel will put each appliance into operation to assure they are working properly.
  9. Does Delta have a budget payment plan? Yes. In August Delta customers have the option to participate in a Budget Payment Program. This gives the consumer the opportunity to spread actual cost over the entire year. Great for fixed incomes and those budget conscious consumers.
